Description

NGC 3621 is a magnitude 9.56 spiral galaxy with an apparent size of 7'27.60"x3'34.86" arcminutes across, about 22 Million lights years away in the constellation of Hydra and is around 93,000 light years across. It is an ordinary spiral but with extended loosely wound arms. Although a 'field' galaxy not directly associated with any larger galaxy cluster, it is believed it to belong to the Leo spur. This galaxy has an active nucleus which suggests the existence  of a low mass super-massive black hole with three million times the mass of the Sun  present at the core.

7Jan 2024 Another update using 5.4 of the 6.7 hours originally aquired with latest Pixinsight tools and tricks which helps a lot BUT general data quality was quite poor so should the opportunity arise when things cool down and condtions improve,  I will try again as it is a very interesting object that deserves some better exposures.
